Rhinoplasty done in Hatyai

I know we all have the same dream to have a better appearance. Since young, I have been obsessed in Korean movies and dramas. Looking at the pretty movie stars made me feel so envy of their nearly perfect features. Honestly, I'm pretty fine for the face that gave by my parents, but just the deepest pain that lowered my self-esteem : NOSE.

I have a typical flat Asian kind of nose with a pair of slightly broad alars. This isn't sound pretty on a feminine face on me. After few weeks of researches regarding nose job, I decide to pay my visit to Doctor Nara in Hatyai, Thailand. Okay, first question, why chose Hatyai? Simply because Thailand is considered the nearest country from Malaysia apart from others famous plastic surgery countries like Korea, Taiwan or Japan. Secondly definitely be the friendly surgery cost offered by Thai plastic surgeon. FYI Thailand is a strong country that produces tons of pretty and sexy movie stars and transgender actresses. ( They can turns guys into girls with a glamorous look, won't it be an easy task for them to turn me prettier muahaha) Below are my before photos :
Year 2015- Wide alars

Year 2013- Low nose bridge

From the researches I did, Dr Nara is a very famous plastic surgeon in Hatyai, having more than 20 years of experiences in his career. He is well-known for his delicate handwork and his oath towards surgery is NATURAL. (Saliva drooling) I emailed Nara's Clinic and successfully booked my appointment 6 months later for rhinoplasty and alarplasty. I did sent my photos (front and side views) for them to analyze. FYI the booking requires at least 4 months prior the surgery ohmygosh. Good things are worth waiting for. Minimum amount of 3000 baht is required for each surgery requested as a deposit. I transferred the deposit using PayPal.

I went there using Air Asia flight with my boyfie (he wants double eyelids surgery to be done as well oopssss :X ) For Hotel, I recommend Lee Garden Plaza Hotel, which is like 5 minutes in walking distance from Dr. Nara's Clinic. It is about 1500 baht per night, with a comfy king size bed, LCD TV, fridge and bath tub. ( Fridge is extremely important for a plastic surgery trip as you need to cool your ice packs to deswell the surgery part for the first 3 days). I read from blogs it is an old and moldy hotel ( As it is built for plenty years), but I found out the condition of the hotel is actually quite good. The hotel is very convenient as it is located at the center of Hatyai Town, where Lee Garden Mall is beneath it and 7eleven is located just in 2 minute walking distance from the hotel. Worth paying your pennies for this hotel.
I shopped like crazy for the first two days before the surgery hahah. Oh ya importantly, pay Dr. Nara's Clinic a visit one day before the appointment to confirm the surgery time. The nurse is kind enough to borrow us a Nokia handset to contact with us as we told her we did not have a Thailand number. After that, we continued shopping as if tomorrow is gonna be a doom day lol (touchwood)

The next day, we reached there 11a.m. as appointed but according to the nurses Dr. Nara will arrive around 12p.m. until 1 p.m. Here are some photos taken while waiting boringly.

Door 1 : Consultation room
Door 2 : Operation room
Damn chio (lol) outfit nurses

To be frank, Dr. Nara's Clinic is not a huge and high-tech (Err..) clinic, it is like those normal family clinic that we used to visit when we are having cough, flu, fever, or anything small cases sickness. I won't dare to enter especially for nose surgery if I don't know how famous is Dr. Nara.

Luckily free wifi is available there, I managed to burn some times before doctor's coming. Around 12.45 p.m., doctor arrived and we had our consultation done. He looks not so scary and quite friendly and patience, explaining the surgery condition to us. I still remembered he said : "Just trust me, I will do beautiful for you." Well, my first impression towards him, he is definitely be a highly confident doctor.

After consultation had done, the nurse gave me shower cap and surgical gown to be wore for my procedure later. I was ordered to clean my face and nostrils thoroughly using the cleanser provided, and cannot touch my bare face with hands to prevent contamination. I was lead into the operation room, too bad no photo can be taken. The operation room is not that big, but fully equipped and have just right temperature of air conditioning. I thought operation room is gonna be a tense environment but FYI, the room has loud volume Thai radio channel, and doctor is constantly chit chatting with the nurses. (Sweat... but at least successfully made me feel more calming.)

There are two operation beds inside. I lay on one of it and two nurses helped me sterilize my whole face including nostrils area with alcohol swipes. After sterilization, they covered my face except nose and eyes area with some sorts of gauze (?) and tied my feets and hands onto the operation bed to prevent movement. (Don't worry no one is gonna sell your kidneys, just for safety purposes tehee) The doctor keep on taking some plastic devices to measure the desire height of my new nose bridge, and tapped my throat sometimes ( I guess is for the mid-line estimation?). After quite some times of prediction and estimation, he drew some outlines on my nose for surgery guideline sake.

General anesthesia was done for sedation. After like 10 minutes, I still hardly sleep D: Then 4 needles of local anesthesia was injected into different part of my nose area. As the first l.a. needle injected, I straight away feel like dying!!!!!!! Holy sh*ttttttt so damn painful!!!!!!!! Meanwhile, maybe is due to the general anesthesia effect, I started to see an aura above me, with blurring of vision and hearing. Continuing strikes of 3 others local anesthesia injection (very painful as well) was taken. I hardly opened my eyes, as if lost of control and I teared due to the pain. I guessed I am fainted for some times before I had my sensation back. The whole procedure (except injection) was painless, but I can feel the doctor was doing somethings on my nose. After the surgery had done, the nurse helped me cleaned the blood stain on my face. The whole procedure lasted for 1 hour and 45 minutes.

After surgery, face mask is provided to cover up. (My face is quite pale due to the anesthesia and no make up.)

Red : Antibiotics ( 1 week dosage)
White Blue : Painkiller
Saline, Cotton bud , Gauze provided

After the surgery, Doctor Nara gave me information regarding medicine taking, and said : " Everything can eat." Me : " Huh? Spicy tomyam gong also can eat?! " He : " Yes, everything can eat. " ERRR, what can I say is this doctor damn chill lorr -_- (sweating)

For the first day, I rested in hotel for whole day, not to forget taking the medicine given and used ice pack to deswell my swollen nose. TIPS: Put an ice patch on 6 to 7 times a day for first 3 days post-surgically, each time 10-15 minutes. During sleeping or resting, not to lay down completely as this will increase the chances of bleeding and build up of pressure in the nose.
Correct position
For food, according to the researches I have done earlier, better not to consume spices, dark coloured food e.g. soy sauce, seafood e.g. shrimps, cuttle fish or crabs and cold stuff like ice-cream for the first week. Consume more protein e.g. milk, eggs, and meat to promote wound healing. Fresh fruits like apple, pear, and orange are helping too. Besides eating clean, I took additional sources of vitamin just to promote wound healing.

Fish oil, Vitamin B Complex, Vitamin C, and Vitamin E are good sources of
nutrients that can boost wound healing and decrease scarring.

During the first night, blood plasma kept on oozing out from my wounds. I did not wash my face because infections will occur if contact with pipe water before stitches removed (FYI stitches will be removed at day 7). It is extremely important to keep the wounds bacteria-free by cleaning them with saline water, and applied some antibiotic cream to prevent infections. I bought myself some cleaning tools but you can still use the saline water, gauze and cotton buds provided by Dr. Nara if you think they are enough for you.

It is not just a normal saline water, but a wound wash solution with
bactericidal, sporicidal and fungicidal purposes. I use it to clean my wounds.

5cm x 5cm plain gauze swabs

Cotton buds/swabs

Antibiotic cream bought from pharmacy

I use it to clean my face (except nose part)

                                                                          Day 1

Day 3
Day 5 (Current photos taken, spot the yellow bruises and swelling.)

He doesn't want to reveal his swollen double eyelids lol

So yeah this is my experience, hope this helps. :)

    1. Thank you for your feedback. For my case the doctor didn't use my ear cartilage for nosetip enhancement. But if you are interested you can consult for that. Might need to add some money for the extra procedure. :)

  18. Rhinoplasty is the cosmetic surgical procedure that can correct the various deformities of the nose. This procedure is very popular and is frequently chosen by patients all around the world. It has dual benefits- It helps improving nasal function and enhances appearance. If a patient has problem in breathing, Rhinoplasty can correct internal structure of the nose. A nose with deformities can make breathing difficult with age as the nose gets longer causing the tip of the nose to drop down. In such situations, Rhinoplasty can be of great help

  20. Be patient with your healing process. Many times a nose looks great after 1 to 2 months, but all noses continue to "morph" over time. Giving your nose at least a year to evolve to best before having a revision rhinoplasty.
